Aquarium boule
Hello,
here is my little project, a buole aquarium, with jaubert filtration system.
I already had another larger aquarium, but after moving from Brazil to the United States, I had to close it. as I live in an apartment, I need a small aquarium and the bola came to me as a great idea.
Inspiration:
this aquarium seems to have belonged to jaubert.

no circulation pump, no air pump, only pulsating xenia created water movement.
jaubert was talking about filtering, but I couldn't find any information on how he made this ball. many do water changes, use canisters and circulation pumps, which I want to avoid as much as possible.

Objective
the objective is a stable yellow-bellied aquarium, without external filtration, without water changes, without renewal of water and with replacement of elements.
the first layer is siporax because the shape of the aquarium does not allow the filter to be fixed.

Re: Aquarium boule
Hello,

Re: Aquarium boule
Things are progressing. Total of 60 days running and a couple of corals. NH4 and NO2 are zero. NO3 is under control below 5ppm. Macro is a caulerpa fern, more are on the way. I had a diatom boom, and 10 hermit crabs did the job very well. I have two nassarus snails and 2 Astrea snails. Corals are two frags of zoas, 1 palythoa, frogspanw 4heads, Duncan 2 heads, 1 bubble tip anemone, blastomussa 4-5 heads and some branches of bird nest, another unknown encrustrating coral, a toadstool and green star polyps.
I know it's a lot of stuff, but some guys where giving away because they were shutting down their tanks. You can't miss good prices.
I did two water changes of 6 liters each which is near 30%.
Let's see the next month's to come.

Hello,
Attention, les caulerpes peuvent être envahissantes dans un si petit volume.

I was traveling for an entire month. Just checking the tank via camera and I'm glad to see the results. Absolutely zero maintenance for a month. Zero. No water changes, nobody comes to my apartment to even see it.
Copepods population increased drastically. All dots you see in the glass are them. Rocks are covered with them. Corals are growing, filament algae is gone.
I lost a couple corals as you can see. That's sad. Its my fault. Maybe premature additions, lack / absolute no water flow (i added a wave maker) and even poor management of the frags. I bought frags from unreliable sources which were already in a very bad shape and caused a filament algae outbreak that also killed some frags. My 5 sexy shrimp also died for unknown reasons. After that I made a 5days blackout and used some chemicals (microbacter clean) regularly, several water changes of almost 100% helped to eliminate filament algae, and caulerpa also died in the process.
I used to have two mollies but I gave them before going to travel. They helped as well to eat algae.
I ran as well an external filter fluval 107 for a couple weeks before going to travel with phosguard which gave good results as we can see.
I believe that now it's going to be time for some additions of corals.
I'm happy with the results so far after 5 months.
